A night with Julian Wicksteed.

The Warrnambool Offshore & Light Game Fishing Club will be hosting an event open to the general public to take advantage of also.

Says WOLFGC member Tyson Halliday:

“G’day all, our guest speaker for the 19th of May meeting will be Julian Wicksteed.
Julian brings with him more than 20 years flyfishing experience across all continents of the world chasing saltwater and freshwater fish.
Julian lived in the south-west of victoria while he completed a degree in Fisheries Management and Aquaculture at Deakin University. A keen water man, he soon fell in love with all that our great coastline has to offer. Having grown up in Townsville he already loved the outdoors, and given the lack of groundswell in nth Queensland it didn’t take him long to discover surfing when he moved down, even shaping his own gun and tackling 15ft two mile as a relative beginner to the sport.
I was fortunate to meet “Wicko” and share a house with him in Port Fairy where I was constantly in awe of his adventurous exploits.
Wicko has a passion for all things water and amongst surfing and windsurfing it wasn’t long before he was tying his own flies and catching trophy trout.
After completing his studies Wicko has travelled the world extensively, publishing a host of articles for Surfing magazines, various fishing magazines as well as numerous self published books and DVDs.
So if you want to meet a top bloke with alot of adventures and yarns to share come on down on the 19th of may. It will be held in the Harbour Pavillion’s Labella Room starting at 6:30pm for dinner and will be $10 for members and $15 for non members. Drinks at club prices.
Julian will have some of his Angler Walkabout DVDs and Walkabout publications at discounted prices on the night for those keen to make a worthy purchase.
